What's so special about our farmers market?

Well for one, it's smack dab in the middle of LA, and to me, it's the very best part of LA.  Almost every Sunday someone new to the farmers market will come up to me and tell me how great it is to have this market here in our neighborhood.  We're used to being under looked and under served compared to the westside, and to places like Larchmont.  But most of the people who live here live here by choice, we love the houses, the neighbors and our proximity to downtown and to the westside, if we want to go there for a visit.  We live here because we want to live a lifestyle that isn't dictacted by what neighborhood we live in.  We're a little, "we are the world" but for real.  And of course we're lucky to have one of the best selections of farmers at any farmers market.  We're working on getting cut flowers back in the market soon, then I think we won't want to go anywhere else to shop, we can get rid of our cars and ride our bikes to the market.  If you haven't been to our farmers market yet, come join in the fun and let me know what you think.

Get an entire body massage from Teacher John at the farmers market!

"It's like getting your entire body massaged, even the insides" said one market goer last week after he tried the "Ki Energy" massage.  "It's like nothing else, it actually helps you to re-align your body" said another market shopper about the "Ki Energy" massage.
The farmers are bringing the season's best.  And in a few weeks, Angelo's farm will be bringing organic greens, all sorts of lettuces, kales etc.

It's almost spring and time to celebrate our first birthday!

The market is turning 1!  It's been quite a joyful year.  Every week we meet first timers to the market who are so happy and appreciative to have such a nice farmers market so close to home.  We want to give a shout out to our vendors who have been here from day one, Agnes and John of Manna Farms, Pachuoa and My from Vang Farms, Cesar the berry and baby lettuces guy,Tony the egg guy, Jacob and Sammy from Mom's specialty foods, Frank the potter and Maison du Pain that brings us fine French pastries.  Thanks for believing in the success of our market and here's to your continued success.  And thank you to all the other vendors who have joined us and are making the market even better:  As always, it wouldn't be a market if our shoppers didn't shop, thanks for joining in the dream of making our community better.

Thanks for leaving your pooch outside our gate.

We provide a shaded area and fresh water for your dog if he/she joins you for the market.  Health department rules don't allow pets other than service animals in the farmers market, even if you hold them the whole time.

So sorry to disappoint with our selection last week!

This is a tough time for most farmers, but we are excited to welcome farmer Hector to the market on Sunday.  Come check out his amazing assortment of produce that will only increase as we get closer to spring.  The tomato lady is also here, tomatoes all year round!
Baby greens, apples, citrus and berries will also make a showing on Sunday.
Have you tried our vendor Akbar Foods samosas?  They are truly amazing and filling.  They are hand made and perfect for cold or wam weather.  They will also sell freshly made Indian sauces and side dishes that can be heated up at home for a warm and soothing meal.  So much better than frozen or packaged vegetarian Indian foods.
Also, the new Market Cafe will be offering Mexican hot chocolate, warm spiced apple cider and fresh made lemonade.  See you at the market!

Some vendors are taking a break after the holidays

Some of our vendors are still taking a break after the holidays.  Manna Farms and Maison du Pain Bakery will be back next week, Jan 9.  Skyline Flowers and Vang Family Farms will return on January 15th.  We'll also welcome a few new farmers over the next few weeks.  Thanks for your continued support of our neighborhood farmers market.
